Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna: History will absolve him ... (and 3)

All political leaders who have reached the status of statesmen have a sense of history. For a statesman, the benign judgment of history is the guide and banner. That is the true dividing line between a politician "from the side or from the backyard" as my grandmother used to say and a political leader who has the status of a statesman. 

In the Dominican Republic, Dr. Joaquín Balaguer was a statesman that the socio-political zaist geist of his time played a bad trick on him. Dr. Balaguer did not find the adequate and appropriate team to translate his political vision into Dominican society. Furthermore, his political vision was a prisoner of the socio-cultural and historical paradigms of the political spirit of his time. 

Dr. Balaguer was a statesman imprisoned by the historical paradigms of his time. 

Professor Juan Bosch, on the other hand, has been the most enlightened and prestigious statesman to ever give birth the Dominican soil, after the founder of the country, Juan Pablo Duarte y Diez. 

On him too, the socio-political zaist geist of his time played a bad trick. It would seem, that the brilliance and lucidity of his ideas and political thoughts were too advanced for his time. 

Professor Bosch is the historical social and intellectual paradigm of a statesman. He used all his resources and talents to imprint history with his immortal legacy. Professor Bosch succeeded accomplishing that goal for himself and the blessing of history.

Unfortunately, some mediocre beings, cheap imitators and made of aged cardboard have tried to appropriate his unfading legacy. History will also judge these mediocre beings who thrive in the politics of cheap imitation. These are shooting stars, passing beings that appear to have their own lights. 

But rest assured that history will not absolve these thieves of laudable and worthy names, ideas and honors own by professor Bosch. These are the same “political leaders” that after misappropriating professor Bosch legacies, they use them as political banners that provide them with social status, financial resources and even apparent immunity after committing political misdeeds in their management and control of the Dominican State. 

History will absolve Dr. Fernández, the trustworthy interpreter of these two Dominican champions and statesmen, Dr. Balaguer and Professor Bosch. He has stood next to history. He has given the country a constitution and a democratic legal structure. He has maintained this democratic banner through his political career outside or within the power of the State in government.

The FP party, "a minority party"" they saying now", which has ideological quality, vocation and political practice of the majority, is called and summoned to fulfill, carry out and complete this historical paradigm. 

What is the historical paradigm that the FP party is called upon to fulfill? 

Make sure that history absolves its founder and ultimate leader, Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna. That goal has to be accomplished by any democratic, legitimate and politically ethical means that is necessary. 

Let there be no doubt: history will absolve you, Dr. Fernández!
